- **Event Description**: Han Mak Belong Tumbuna: Made by the Hands of the Ancestors showcases more than 160 artefacts from Papua New Guinea — arrows and bows, kina shells, tapa cloths, ceremonial adornments and domestic objects that each carry powerful stories of identity, ritual and belief.

Created in collaboration with Cairns’ PNG community, the exhibition reconnects these objects with their meanings through shared cultural knowledge, memory and bilingual storytelling in Tok Pisin and English. Opening in the year Papua New Guinea celebrates 50 years of independence, the exhibition also marks the beginning of a journey to re-gift these treasured objects to their homeland.

This exhibition is located in the Ground Floor Gallery of Cairns Museum. Admission also includes entry to the Museum’s additional four galleries, where you can discover the broader stories of Cairns and Far North Queensland.
